Prior Work Experience:

 

Before beginning law school, Mario completed a four-year apprenticeship as an Electronics Mechanic at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard. Following graduation from law school, Mario worked five years in New York City, practicing in the Tax, Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation areas. Upon returning to California, Mario continued in the Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation practice for a couple of years before making the transition into Workers’ Compensation defense.

 

Mario began his Workers’ Compensation career by spending six years with State Compensation Insurance Fund, after which he continued Workers’ Compensation defense at several firms before coming to Heggeness, Sweet, Simington & Patrico. He has been a Workers’ Compensation Specialist since 2000.  Mario has a special talent for defending claims made by former professional atheletes.

 

Personal:

 

Mario is an avid bowler: high game 297. Mario and his wife are kept very busy, following the high school sporting exploits of their son and daughter. He and his wife also enjoy taking their two Pomeranians, Ziggy (Zigfried) and Roy for nice, long walks.
